As you see this is the final post of the term. I learned a lot of things from the course Educational Technologies in terms of how technology can be used in a classroom setting. We have been assigned many tasks in order to understand it from the perspectives of our students to be.
Because it is clear that we cannot precisely know what it means, for example, when it comes to creating a podcast or a digital story. So, our teacher made us experience it.
What was my opinion about technology integrated lessons?
Before doing these tasks, I used to think that technology integration is all about the online activities or videos that is specifically created for language learning. But, after taking this course, I realized that creating daily life products is also something we can make use of as teacher candidates in our lessons. To examplify, we were assigned to create a blog initially. We learned about creating a web site, writing our thoughts and experiences on a blog page. This can surely be used in an English class, as; even only writing in a different language will make a big contribution to the children. This is the first and one of the most important steps of a technology-integrated class.
The Things We Have Done So Far
I also want to mention the things we have done so far. To be honest, all of them had a great deal of benefit to me and most were enjoyable. But if I had to choose the one I loved most would be creating a digital story. We made a video about a woman who has a haunted house. Because it was for children, we tried to use our imagination as much as possible. The most fun parts of it were making cartoon and narrating the story. I liked it a lot. When it comes to what I loved least, it is hard to say this because the instructions our teacher gave and what she wanted from us were clear enough to do the task. So, I made them with pleasure. However, if I had to choose one from them, I would probably say the padlet. It is not because I found it unnecessary or useless, but because it was less funny when compared to other tasks. Still, it is a beneficial app for group homeworks and not that boring :)
Final Words
As for suggesting a couple of things to the course, there is no so much to say. However, it may be said that we could have had more options for the podcast. Other than this, as I have said there is not much to critize. It is also something good for us to not only learn the tools but also experience them. Because it is clear that we cannot precisely know what it means, for example, when it comes to creating a podcast or a digital story without making it in person. So, our teacher made us experience it. Although the course had some difficulties, it was the lesson that I loved most during the term even since the last year. It contributed me a lot and I enjoyed so much. Such tasks will be my inspiration for the upcoming years thanks to Gökçe teacher:)
