Hi everyone!
We made a video in which we taught must and mustn't topic with Nursena Çakır. As a first thing, for you who do not know what a flipped classroom is, I want to clarify it;
Students learn or be familiar with the information before the classroom and practice it under the consultant of the teacher.
It has countless advantages in my opinion. For instance, we save a lot of time since students become already knowledgable or at least familiar with the topic before coming to the class. In that way, we have plenty of time to practice what they learned. We do this either with games, songs, ARs or any helpful tools. As a whole, they come to the class with their knowledge and teachers build on it in the classroom.
However, everything comes with its restrictions too. Even if students get used to this process and loved it, parents can react or even criticize what the teacher does. Teachers may have to deal with them. Or most importantly, students may not have an access to the technology. So, we need to handle this in different ways.
If you ask me, we shouldn't quit flipped classrom approach how hard it is. Because its advantages outweighs its disadvantages and hardness. We, as teachers, can always find a way to get over such drawbacks.
So, I want to talk about our experience in detail. We were given 2 options which were either vocabulary or a grammar topic teaching. We chose the grammar one and our topic was must and mustn't. We divided all the works into two. Inıtially Nursena prepared a slide in which she included everything we would teach. Then, I prepared a worksheet and put some activities for the students to go over what they learned from the video and also one of the activities will be done in the classroom as I did not want them to get bored. Finally, we narrated the slide and converted all these things into a video.
