Making a Digital Poster

Hi there!

Have you ever created a movie poster or a magazine cover? I have :) We were assigned to create either of them for our educational technologies lesson.

Let me talk about the task thoroughly. The first option is to decide on a book that we have read so far and adapt it into a movie poster. The second option is to create a magazine cover and you can create it on any topic you want. Both sound enjoyable and interesting, right? Guess which one I chose. The first one! I decided to create a movie poster.

Details;

For the film, I picked "the metamorphosis" of Franz Kafka. I picked this book because it has a charming style and I thought that I could make it easily. BUT I WAS WRONG! It was too hard to find an idea. If you read the book, you may know the plot. It is about a man who turns into an insect briefly. As it is such a weird and also abstract plot, it was very difficult for me to find a good cover idea. Firstly, I created a draft but then, I found it a bit plain. Due to this, I started to check some abstract images on Pinterest to place it to the background. I got some images then I settled upon one of the pictures that I downloaded.

One of the ridiculous things about this homework was to make a decision on who to choose for the main character who is Gregor Samsa. Because Gregor Samsa does not have a healthy mind owing to this metamorphosis, I thought that the "Joker" could be great for this role. Then I put the name of Joaquin Phoenix on the poster.

The App That Use And My Thougts About The Whole Process

I used Canva for this assignment. It is such a plentiful tool that you can use it for any purposes. You choose your aim to use it and it provides you numerous templates and ideas. Check it out! As to what I generally think about the process is that I loved this idea so much. Because it improves your creativity and gives you an opprtunity to learn how to create a film poster or at least an introduction how to do it. Especially the younger learners will love it because, I can surely say according to my experience that creating animations will be funnier than what we did and this will definitely suit to the children.
